People who deliver quality work recognise it. If your site looks careless, they will doubt the rest. That is why every project starts with what you make and who it is for, not with the visual style.
For us, design and build belong to the same process. The structure we agree on is the structure that ends up in the code. There is no point where someone else has to guess the decisions again.

Then the route is missing, not the appearance. We design the path to an enquiry: what someone needs to know first, where the decision happens and where the message comes from.

What changes often belongs in a management area you operate yourself. What never changes does not need to be a system.

A small screen is not a scaled-down desktop. We set up every page separately for narrow widths and check it from 320 pixels upwards.
04 / Approach
The structure follows three answers
What your website needs to say, what a visitor needs to find and which step you want to make easier: those three answers shape every page, and they are written down before anything is designed.
Then we define the measurements: margins, column widths, line spacing and the space between paragraphs. That is not decoration but an agreement. It keeps every page on your site part of the same family, including the page you add yourself in a year.

Positioning
What do you make, for whom, and why should someone choose you? That answer guides everything else. Without it, design is guesswork.

Structure
We define which pages are needed, what appears on each one and in what order, and which route leads to an enquiry or first conversation.

Design
Typography, space, colour and imagery, defined in a grid and a set of elements that hold up at every screen size.

Every step ends with something you can review

Direction and scope
These five steps are a proposal. We confirm them in the first conversation and record them before work begins. At this stage, we map your audience, goals and existing site. From that come the page list, required functionality and the project boundary. From you: access to what is already there, and an honest picture of which text and imagery are ready.
Agreed upfront: what will be built, what is outside the scope, who supplies which content and who makes decisions on your side.

Structure and content
For each page, we determine what information is needed and the order in which someone reads it. Then we define how the pages connect and where the main action belongs. We identify any missing text or imagery here, not later. From you: the content you provide yourself, or the decision to have it created.

Design and alignment
First comes the visual direction: typography, space, colour and imagery, shown on the page that carries the most weight. You review that work in your browser, not as a picture. We ask for feedback at fixed moments, so your response arrives before the rest is built on it. From you: one contact person who brings feedback together and makes decisions.

Build and review
The pages are built and filled with the final text and imagery. Then we review them on phone, tablet and computer, and operate the whole site with a keyboard. Navigation, links, headings and forms are checked one by one, including error messages. From you: a final content review, because later text changes require another check.
A test version at a private address, with a list of what was reviewed and what it showed.

Handover and management
The site goes live on your own domain and hosting. You receive the files and accounts, and we walk through what you can change yourself and how. In the same conversation, we agree what remains open after handover and who owns it. From you: domain and hosting details, in your name.
Files, access and management guidance. Everything is in your name, even if you continue with someone else later.

Design and build belong together
We design and build ourselves. A decision about line length, load time or keyboard operation does not disappear in a handover; it goes straight into the page. What was agreed in the design can be measured in the built site.
We most enjoy working on sites where content does the heavy lifting: a craft that needs explaining or a schedule that changes often. Where we are not the right fit, we say so just as clearly.
