Websites

A website that explains your craft before someone calls

For businesses commissioning their first serious website or renewing an existing one. We first define what the site needs to say and to whom, then design and build it ourselves on the platform that suits the way you want to manage it.

You start from scratch, or at a site that is no longer keeping up

The starting point differs, but the approach does not: first the question of what the site should do and for whom, then the form.

A new website

For those who have a serious site created for the first time, or who are so far removed from the old one that starting over makes more sense. Your profession is clear, but your story about it is not: visitors do not know after two minutes whether you do what they are looking for.

  • Discussion about positioning and target group

  • Construction of pages and navigation

  • Grid, typography and use of color

  • Design for all screen sizes

  • Construction and transfer with explanation and files

Refresh an existing site

For those who have a site that is slow, is disappointing on the phone or can no longer be managed themselves. The content is still correct, but no one dares to change it, and what should change every week has been the same for months.

  • Examination of the current site

  • Revised structure and navigation

  • New design on one fixed grid

  • Management environment for what changes often

  • Retention of existing addresses where possible

The platform follows how you want to manage

We choose the platform after determining what the site should do, not before. Each platform has its own page stating what it can and cannot do.

WordPress

For a site with a lot of varied content that you maintain yourself, such as services, projects and articles. You choose where it is hosted, and a online shop can be added later.

Framer

For a brand-oriented site, a portfolio or landing pages with a CMS. Strong in design; a customer portal, login per user or own online shop is not included as standard. This requires third-party plug-ins or a separate web app.

Webflow

For a site with a CMS of collections that your team populates, with APIs to manage content from outside. Which subscription you need depends on the CMS and the number of items.

A light, static site

For a site that rarely changes: individual pages without a database, fast and with little maintenance. What does change regularly will have its own management environment.

Two situations you may recognise

Possible starting points, not completed projects. The concept projects in Work show how we approach this kind of brief.

A consultancy that needs to explain its expertise

Problem

What the practice does is difficult for an outsider to understand. The current site lists the services, but not who they are for or how an initial conversation works, so people call with questions the site should have answered.

Solution

A structure that lets visitors start with their own situation, a page for each service explaining who it is for, the approach and what the initial conversation involves, plus an enquiry route that asks for the information the practice wants to know beforehand.

Data involved

Services, frequently asked questions, the approach and the fields in the enquiry form.

Benefit

Enquiries come from people who already know what to expect.

Depends on

Whether the practice can clearly define its target audiences, and who writes the copy.

A site nobody dares to update anymore

Problem

The site was built by someone else years ago. Adding a new opening time or vacancy means sending an email and waiting a week, and half the menu disappears on mobile.

Solution

A rebuild that transfers the content worth keeping, revises the structure, and gives frequently changing content its own place in a management environment you can use yourself.

Data involved

Existing pages and their URLs, the parts that change frequently, and access to the domain and hosting.

Benefit

You can update what changes frequently yourself, and the site works on every screen size from 320 pixels wide.

Depends on

Whether you have access to the domain, hosting and current site, and how much of the old content is still accurate.

When a website of ours is suitable

This fits like

  • You deliver craftsmanship that requires explanation

  • You want to be able to update what changes often

  • You have a site that is slow, is disappointing on the phone or is no longer manageable

  • You want design and construction to remain in one hand

This fits less well than

  • You are mainly looking for online sales: then a online shop is a better fit

  • You just want a business card that never changes, and you can put it together yourself

  • You’re looking for social media management or newsletters

If you only need a few fixed pages and the time to do it yourself, a website builder in which you can set up a site yourself may be enough. That’s what we say.

Five steps, each with something to assess

  1. Direction. We map out your target group, your goals and your current site. This results in the page list, functions and boundaries of the project.

  2. Structure. For each page we determine what information is on it and in what order, and where the most important action will take place. We mention missing text or images here.

  3. Design.First the page that carries the most weight, in your browser and not as an image. We ask for responses at fixed times, before the rest builds on it.

  4. Construction and control. We build, fill with the final content and check everything on phone, tablet and computer, with the keyboard and at speed.

  5. Delivery. The site goes live on your own domain. You will be given access and explanation about what you can change yourself, and we will record what remains open afterwards.

What we need for a proposal

A briefing does not have to be finished. This helps to create a proposal that is correct:

  • What you do, for whom, and what the site should deliver: requests, explanation, trust

  • The address of your current site, if there is one

  • What texts and images already exist, and what still needs to be created

  • What you want to be able to change yourself, and how often

  • Who decides on your side

  • Only during construction: access to domain and hosting via your own account

What determines the price of a website

Starting prices for websites are listed on the pricing page. After the first conversation, an amount is written down on paper, based on these points.

  • Number and type of pages.Ten pages with the same structure require less than five, each of which is different.

  • Management. How much you want to be able to change yourself, and how much needs to be set up for this.

  • Text and image. What is ready, and what still needs to be written, photographed or drawn.

  • Transfer. In the event of a renewal: how much existing content must be included and how many addresses are forwarded.

  • Functions and links.Forms that forward data, an agenda, a link with other software.

Recurring costs

  • Domain and hosting

  • Subscription to the platform, at Framer, Webflow or WordPress.com

  • Paid plugins or components

  • Maintenance: updates, checks and repairs as agreed

Questions about a new or updated site

Will my existing addresses continue to work?

Where a page remains, we keep the address the same. Where this is not possible, we forward the old address to the new page, so that links and search results do not end up on an error page.

Do I have to write the lyrics myself?

That is allowed, and then we help with the structure per page. If you want to have them written, we will agree in advance, because it determines how long the project will take.

Will the site be easy to find?

We ensure that the technical side is correct: titles, headlines, addresses, speed and a sitemap. We do not promise a position in Google; it also depends on your content and what others publish.

Can I add features later?

Yes. We build the site in such a way that it can add a page, a part or a link. If a function is missing later that no existing solution satisfies properly, a custom app can be used.

Tell us what you do and where you are now

A few sentences about your craft, your clients and your current website are enough for an initial conversation. After that, we will both know whether it is a fit.
